I work with adults and children who are experiencing behavioural or emotional difficulties, particularly when these occur
alongside autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Many people come to see me
because they are struggling with things such as anxiety, low mood, emotional ups and downs, impulsivity, relationship stress,
or challenges at school, work, or in daily routines. My aim is to provide a supportive and practical space where we can better
understand what is happening and develop strategies that make everyday life easier and more manageable.
As an experienced clinical psychologist, I also work with older adults. Emotional wellbeing and coping patterns can change
across the lifespan, and later stages of life often bring new challenges such as health concerns, retirement, caregiving
responsibilities, or loss. Psychological support can help people navigate these transitions, strengthen resilience, and
maintain a sense of balance and purpose.
My approach to therapy is evidence-based and tailored to the individual. We usually begin with an assessment to gain a clear
understanding of your concerns, strengths, and goals. From there, we develop a plan together that focuses on practical steps and
meaningful outcomes. When appropriate, and with your permission, partners or family members may be involved, as supportive
relationships can play an important role in long-term change. Therapy then progresses step by step, building useful skills,
testing strategies in everyday situations, and adjusting the plan as we learn what works best for you.
Psychological Assessments
Psychological assessments can be a valuable first step in understanding what is happening and identifying the most helpful forms
of support. A well-conducted assessment provides a clearer picture of strengths, challenges, and the factors that may be
contributing to current difficulties. This information can assist with therapy planning, guide practical strategies at home,
school, or work, and in some cases help individuals access additional services, educational adjustments, or workplace support.
Many people find that a careful assessment brings clarity and reassurance, allowing them and those around them to move forward
with a more informed and constructive plan.
I provide comprehensive assessments for autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in
both children and adults. These assessments typically involve a detailed discussion of developmental history, current concerns,
and day-to-day functioning, as well as the use of established psychological questionnaires and structured assessment tools. When
appropriate, information from parents, partners, teachers, or other professionals may also be included. The goal of the
assessment is not simply to determine whether a diagnosis is present, but to develop a clear understanding of how a person
thinks, learns, communicates, and manages everyday demands.
I also provide cognitive assessments to better understand how a person processes information and approaches problem-solving.
These assessments examine areas such as attention, memory, reasoning, processing speed, and overall intellectual functioning.
Cognitive assessments can help explain learning difficulties, guide educational or workplace planning, and identify both
strengths and areas where additional support may be helpful. The results are summarised in a clear written report and discussed
in detail so that practical recommendations can be used to support everyday functioning.
